On the border with Romania, two Ukrainians lost their cars because of cigarette smuggling

Last night, on the border with Romania, two Ukrainians lost their cars because of cigarette smuggling. Border guards of the Mukachevo detachment found hidden tobacco products in conjunction with SFS employees during an in-depth inspection of cars at the checkpoint "Dyakove".

First, law enforcement officers found 510 packs of cigarettes in a Mercedes. 31-year-old driver of the foreign car, a Ukrainian citizen, hid contraband in a gas cylinder, which was in the luggage compartment. The found cigarettes were seized and estimated at almost 15,000 UAH, the value of the vehicle amounted to 32,000 UAH.

Another car was seized from a 49-year-old Ukrainian who tried to hide cigarettes in constructive cavities of his minibus Ford. During the in-depth inspection of the vehicle, border guards, together with customs officers, found 190 packs of cigarettes.  

The cigarettes and the car were seized from the Ukrainian in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
