On December 19, in Uzhgorod, Mikolajczyks will hand out a ton of candy

Last year, the famous Parade of Mikolajczyks was held in Uzhgorod on December 18. This year, it will take place on December 19, on the very holiday of St. Nicholas. And it will start at 13.00 near the central Christmas tree on Teatralna Square, the organizer of the event Fedir Shandor said. Every year, the parade has new highlights, expands its geography and has a charitable component. But first things first.

The parade has been held in Uzhgorod for 18 years in a row. Fedir Shandor says the first festival was held in 1998 with 60 students and teachers of the secondary school №2. The following year, 200 children from the schools №2, 4, 19, 20 took part in the event. In 2000, 890 children from 15 city schools. In 2008, students of the Geography Department of UzhNU and all schools of the city joined the event. During this period, they have distributed more than one ton of candy.

Last year, the event expanded its geography – the parades were held in Mukachevo and Perechyn.

This year, the parades will be held in these cities again.

As for the regional center, the last year, Mikolajczyks not only helped ignite the lights on the city’s main Christmas tree, but also sang and conducted a quest in the territory of Uzhgorod castle, where they found the Bethlehem fire. This year, they planned a photo shoot at the children’s railway.

Of course, there will be a lot of candy at the parade 2016. While previously they were bought by the organizers themselves, now they have sponsors. In Uzhgorod, for example, they plan to buy these goodies.
