The Financial Investigation Department of the Main Office of the Ministry of Income in Transcarpathian region revealed the fact of embezzlement of public funds by officials of executive bodies in the region. In particular, in the period from 2011 to 2013, these officers, abusing official position, in collusion with other officials of the subordinate structural units, embezzled the budget funds that were available to them.
The total amount of squandered money is more than half a million hryvnias. The officials embezzled the budget money by entering into agreements for insurance of communal property that were not economically feasible.
The Financial Investigation Department of the Main Office of the Ministry of Income initiated preliminary inquiry into this fact on the grounds of a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
– Despite the fact that one of the main tasks of the Main Office of the Ministry of Income is taking measures to mobilize funds to the budget, investigative and operational units are also constantly taking measures to monitor the legality of budget funds spending by entities, – Mykhailo Shukost, the Acting Deputy Chief – the Chief of Financial Investigation Department of the Main Office of the Ministry of Income in Transcarpathian region said.
According to him, currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and measures to establish the persons involved in the embezzlement of public funds are being taken.
