Number of bank clients has increased by 0.5%

Number of bank customers in 2014 increased by 0.4 million, or 0.5% – to 74.8 million.

This is stated in the report of the National Bank.

"As of January 1, 2015, institutions of 163 Ukrainian banks were serving 74.8 million customers – businesses and individuals (residents and non-residents) who have opened current and deposit accounts," – the report states.

According to the report, out of the total number of customers, 72.7 million were individuals, 2.1 million – entities, including 1.1 million – individual entrepreneurs and 0.015 million – non-bank financial institutions, 0.006 million – public sector institutions.

According to the NBU, the total number of opened accounts of customers in 2014 increased by 1.5 million and at the beginning of this year amounted to 117.5 million, including current accounts – 101.1 million (86% of the total number of accounts opened with banks), deposit accounts – 16.4 million (14% of the total number of accounts opened with banks).

The proportion of individuals’ accounts is 96.5% of all opened accounts of customers (97.2 million current accounts and 16.2 million deposit accounts).
