No three stages: train tickets will rise by 21% at once

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine approved the one-time increase of fares on passenger trains by 21% compared to the year 2014, whereas previously it was assumed that indexation would be conducted in three stages.

This was reported to the UNIAN by a source in the ministry.

The source said that the indexation of fares on domestic passenger trains by 21% would be held, as expected, for all types of passenger cars, except for first-class cars of "Intercity+" trains.

The source said that the indexation would be held roughly in 2-2.5 months after approval of the relevant order of the Ministry in the government, that will take effect after the registration with the Ministry of Justice and publication in the newspaper "Uryadovy Kuryer".

A few hours earlier, at a briefing, the Head of the Department of long-distance passenger transportation of the "UZ" Igor Breus had said that the agency had initiated increase of fares in passenger trains this year in three stages: on March 1 – by 6%, on April 1 – by 7%, on May 1 – by 6.5% taking into account the inflation, while the total increase will be 21%.
