Neighboring Hungary is preparing to ban the operation of vehicles with diesel engines

The deputies’ initiative to ban the operation of passenger cars with diesel engines and petrol engines with the power over 150 kW (201 hp) starting from 2020 has been registered the Hungarian parliament, the MyHungary.Net informs.

Starting 2025, it is planned to prohibit operation of not only diesel cars, but also vans, trucks and buses for commercial use in cities with populations over 100 thousand people.

Such a radical step is necessary due to high levels of harmful emissions in major cities, due to exhaust of diesel engines. Their emissions are more harmful than those of gasoline engines, which certainly affects the environment and human health.

It should be noted that such measures are taken in several countries. Recently, Athens, Paris, Madrid and Mexico agreed to ban the operation of diesel cars within the city limits starting from 2025. For example, in Paris and its suburbs, it is prohibited to drive cars and motorcycles that were registered before September 30, 1997. And buses and trucks that were registered before October 2001 are prohibited to drive in the city center.
