Near the RSA building, Roma from Beregovo were asking for protection from “neighbor criminals”

Today, several dozen Roma from Beregovo, mostly women with small children, gathered near the building of the Regional State Administration for a spontaneous rally, the Department of Communication of the National Police Office in Transcarpathian region informs.

Their leaders – Roma Baron Rudolf Papp and district council member Stepan Papp – went to the meeting with the leadership of the Regional State Administration.

According to the protesters, they came from a Roma settlement in Beregovo, to seek protection from their "criminal" neighbors who are terrorizing the whole camp and threatening with physical violence.

The Deputy Chief of the National Police Office, colonel Yaroslav Lebovych met with the Roma. He assured that the police management would take control of this criminal proceeding, and peace and security in the camp would be ensured by a special purpose police unit.
