NBU began inspecting banks at the request of the IMF

On May 26, 2014, the National Bank launched a diagnostic inspection of the 15 largest banks in Ukraine.

This operation is provided by the stand-by program of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank project to support the financial sector of Ukraine, the official site of the National Bank of Ukraine informed.

"Today, banks of the group I have signed contracts with audit firms and the diagnostic inspection in those banks began on May 26, 2014" – the statement reads.

In general, the NBU should conduct a diagnostic inspection of 35 major Ukrainian banks. Diagnostic inspection of the next 20 banks is to begin on July 15, 2014.

The National Bank informed that diagnostic examination of banks would be carried out by independent audit firms in accordance with the requirements established by the regulator.

It will include assessment of asset quality, sufficiency (adequacy) of regulatory capital in order to determine the volume of capitalization of banks.
