This weekend about a hundred naked Santa Clauses, both male and female, participated in the "Santa Claus Burst Marathon" in the Hungarian capital. The marathon participants were wearing only traditional Santa Claus hats and bathing suits.
Bold Hungarians had to run 1.2 miles in spite of the fact that the temperatures in Budapest these days has reached almost minus 30 degrees Celsius.
With this events Santa Clauses wanted to draw attention to sick children with cystic fibrosis, and collect some money for them. They succeeded to collect quite a lot – about 22 thousand dollars.
The Sunday event was a continuation of the tradition that began in 2000, when several naked men in hats and Santa’s beards ran through the crowd of stunned shoppers at shopping street Newbarry in Boston.
The charitable event was recognized in and outside America, it is conducted every year in different cities of Europe, and in the Boston the number of race participants has grown to several thousands.
