Members of the Regional Council asked the Cabinet to allocate 20 million to complete the construction of the Bushtyno bridge

At tomorrow’s plenary meeting of the fourth session of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the regional deputies will appeal to the Cabinet asking to allocate funds for the completion of the bridge in the village of Bushtyno on the road N-09 Mukachevo – Rakhiv – Bohorodchany – Ivano-Frankivsk – Rohatyn – Bibirka – Lviv.

The document published on the site of the Regional Council states: "We, members of the Regional Council, are concerned about the situation in the field of road management in the region.

Almost 60 per cent of the total length of roads in the region is located in mountainous areas, 55 percent – directly near rivers. The network of public roads in the region includes 26 mountain passes, 1,298 bridges with the total length of 23,137 linear meters and 113,642 linear meters of retaining walls. In terms of the length of bridges, the region ranks second in the country. These factors require a separate approach to the development of road network in the region and a corresponding increase in expenditures for protective, reinforcing and other artificial structures.

Despite the fact that the government declared 2016 the year of roads, the situation with funding of road repairs remained unchanged. Currently, the works on dozens of flood facilities are unfinished that can lead to destruction of roads and commenced construction of protective structures, bridges, during the next rise of water level.

Thus, the road N-09 Mukachevo – Rakhiv – Bohorodchany – Ivano-Frankivsk – Rohatyn – Bibirka – Lviv within the region has repeatedly suffered damage and destruction during floods in 1998, 2001, 2008, 2010.   Currently, the construction of the 169-meter-long bridge on the 90+227 km in the village of Bushtyno, which is about 90 percent ready, remains unfinished. According to preliminary calculations, UAH 20 million is needed to complete it.

Delays in the completion of the bridge may result in loss of communication on the road Mukachevo – Rakhiv – Rohatyn – Lviv and leave Rakhiv and a significant part of Tyachiv districts without road traffic with the regional center.

Based on the above, we ask you to immediately intervene and instruct the Ukravtodor to include the completion of the construction of the bridge in the village of Bushtyno on the 90+227 km of the highway N-09 Mukachevo – Rakhiv – Bohorodchany – Ivano-Frankivsk – Rohatyn – Bibirka – Lviv to the work plan for 2016, providing funding for works and commissioning of the said facility in amount of UAH 20 million," – it stated in the draft appeal of the deputies.

Recall that this Thursday, July 28, the first plenary meeting of the fourth session of the regional council will take place, during which the deputies will consider about 40 issues and make changes to the budget for 2016.
