Measles incidence in Transcarpathia is growing again

Last week, 136 cases of measles were recorded, an increase of 11% over the previous week (136 versus 123 cases). Among the infected people, children under 17 years old make up 68% (92 cases), adults – 32% (44 cases).

According to the operational data, 90 out of 136 patients are not vaccinated against measles (66.2%), 23 people have received only one vaccine dose (16.9%).

20 cases were registered in Perechyn district, 18 – in Khust district, 14 – in Uzhgorod district, 12 – in Vynogradiv district, and 10 in the city of Uzhgorod, as well as in Mukachevo district and Rakhiv district; in other administrative territories, isolated cases (less than 10) were detected.

Since the beginning of 2019, 1,020 cases of measles have been registered in the region, ie 81 cases per 100,000 people. 689 patients are children under 17 years old (68%) and 331 are adults (33%).
