Despite these differences, they were destined to meet!
When on July 23, 1880, Laszlo Otsyl was appointed the inspector for education of Ugocsa comitat, he probably did not even imagined that he would find both personal and professional happiness there. Having an active social position and professional enthusiasm, he actively began to work on developing the educational sphere of the region. He had a lot of work to do, the first task was to build the city public school that would be a model for the entire region. Perhaps it was while solving organizational issues concerning the school, in particular, the allocation of land for the construction, when Laszlo and Luiza met.
And that was just the beginning of his activities. Over 23 years of working in Ugocsa County, dozens of new schools were built and the existing ones were repaired. And through all that time, his wife Luiza Pereni was a faithful ally and great support for him. Hard work took its toll on Laszlo’s health, which was further complicated by diabetes. And, at the age of 57, on December 24, 1906, he died. They did not have any children, but they had each other.
And it was not an ordinary love, but the one that lives for centuries. After her husband’s death, Luiza built a mausoleum in his honour. The wife did not want to bury him in the cemetery, instead she chose the place where Laszlo could see the fruits of his activities, on one of the slopes of Chorna Hora Mountain, offering breathtaking view of the entire city.
After her husband’s death, Luiza became fully immersed in economic affairs. But before her death, she asked to be buried next to her husband in this magnificent crypt.
