Local residents attacked reporters of the “Inter”

The pretrial investigation into obstruction of journalistic activities (Part 1 of Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been launched – on October 21, the investigators of Uzhgorod District Police Department registered this fact in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations.

It was found out that yesterday, about 17.00 in the village of Syurte in Uzhgorod district, a reporter and a cameraman of the "Inter" channel were filming a videoreport "The life of Hungarians in Transcarpathia." However, in the course of performance of their professional duties, two local residents, one of whom has been identified, started a verbal dispute with the journalists.  During the incident, the men threatened the reporters with physical harm if they continue shooting.

Because of misconduct of the above citizens, the media workers were forced to stop filming.

Currently, they are indentifying all persons involved in this incident and carrying out the necessary investigation, which is under control of the prosecutor’s office.
