Liliya Hrynevych is on a working visit in Transcarpathia

On Wednesday, April 30, the chairman of the Committee on Science and Education of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Liliya Hrynevych visited Transcarpathian region. During the visit, Liliya Hrynevych met with teachers and students of higher educational institutions of the region. The meetings were also attended by the First Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Andriy Serbaylo.

The first meeting of Liliya Hrynevych was with teachers and students of Uzhgorod National University. In particular, they discussed the law "On Higher Education", voted in the Parliament in the first reading.According to Liliya Hrynevych, the reform of higher education in Ukraine is relevant now, given the recent socio-political developments in the country.

– The bill provides for the expansion of universities’ autonomy: financial, personnel, academic. At the same time, the responsibility for the level of education provided in institutes and universities is increased. Much attention is given to the student government. Therefore, the discussion of the law with the teachers and the students is very important – Liliya Hrynevych said.

In addition to UzhNU, Liliya Hrynevych visited Mukachevo State University and Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute named after Ferenc Rákóczi II.  In all higher education institutions, they discussed important issues of the bill and the reform of higher education. In particular, teachers and students were interested in the optimization of universities, funding of research projects, the logistics of educational institutions, features of learning processes in the public and private institutions, licensing of higher education institutions and other issues.

All participants of the discussions agreed that the bill would not be complete without public discussion, propositions from higher education institutions, and taking into account all the features, such as, for example, the language of teaching (which was discussed in the Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute named after Ferenc Rákóczi II).

During the visit, Liliya Hrynevych also visited the exhibition of the best graduate works of higher art education in Transcarpathia for the last 30 years held in Mukachevo castle.
