On October 23, the Transcarpathian Drama and Comedy Theater from Khust performed in Uzhgorod. In the afternoon, in the Puppet Theater "Bavka" they presented a musical comedy in two acts without intermission "Overthinking" produced for the stage by director Vyacheslav Davidyuk.
And in the evening – a musical drama (produced by the same director) dedicated to the events of the Carpathian Ukraine "The Last Tango in Khust" by playwright and journalist Oleksandr Havrosh. It was the story of the travelling art company of the Carpathian Sich which was operating for several months in Khust in the late 1930s. The talented boys and girls created a revolutionary theater.
The main character of the drama – played on stage by the head of the theater Vasyl Snitar – director, artist, singer Mykola Song is based on the Ukrainian poet, playwright, officer of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Mykola Chirsky. Song, realizing that the state begins on the intellectual level of human consciousness, promotes ideas through art, performing with a group of like-minded friends, travelling from village to village.
Charismatic actors, interaction with the audience, Transcarpathian dialect, images, and orchestra – all that made the performance very patriotic. "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!"
The audience gave standing ovation. Some of them even cried.
