On May 11, the best foil fencers were competing for the prizes of the XIX International Tournament of the Carpathian Euroregion in memory of the Honored Coach of Ukraine Vasyl Herey.
Today, about 100 mail and female born in 2002 and younger were in the first hall of the sports complex "Yunist". There were representatives from all corners of Ukraine from the East to the West. This tournament is one of the stages of the selection to the national cadet team of Ukraine.
Yevhen Lazarenko from Kyiv became the best foil fencer of the tournament this year. Bohdan Lisovyi from Kyiv won the silver medal. Representative of Mykolayiv Danyil Tkach and Oleg Kokorovets from Kyiv shared the bronze awards.
Kateryna Budenko from Kyiv won the gold medal among girls by defeating in the final Nicolleta Korlat from Mykolayiv, who won the silver medal. Representatives of Mykolayiv Kristina Kulik and Alina Polozyuk shared the bronze medals.
The top eight fencers among boys and girls were awarded with memorable gifts. Currently, the national team cadets are preparing for the next rounds and all-Ukrainian competitions. In the summer, a series of training sessions will be held, one of which will take place in Transcarpathia – in Kostrino. Also, the European Cup will start in the autumn.
