Journalists of UzhNU welcome Swedish teachers

The journalism department of UzhNU has the honor to hold the third round of the project of cooperation between Swedish Institute FOJO and three universities in Ukraine. 12 professional media workers from Sweden, Kyiv and Cherkasy came to Uzhhorod for the week of exchange of experiences during training sessions and workshops. Training for students and teachers was opened by Veronica Menzhun – Project Manager from Sweden, teacher of media institute FOJO in Kalmar, Klass Tur – coach of the same institute, Yulia Nesteriak – deputy director of the Institute of Journalism of Kyiv National University, Fedir Vashchuk – Acting Rector of UzhNU, PhD, professor, and Yuri Bidzilya – Dean of the Phililogy Faculty, the candidate of philological sciences, professor.

This spring, four teachers of journalism department participated in similar trainings in Sweden. Another round of the project was hosted by the Institute of Journalism of Kyiv National University.

Head of UzhNU Fedir Vashchuk noted positive experience of training with foreign colleagues and promised that the management of university would support such traditions of cooperation with European educational institutions.

Klass Tur, teacher of Swedish media institute FOJO, admitted that Ukraine for him is unexplored part of Europe. So before coming here he was trying to learn more about our country. Swedish teacher believes that in the future such an approach will be applied that anyone could be a journalist. Technical possibilities for that are limitless.    

Yulia Nesteriak, deputy director of the Institute of Journalism of Kyiv National University during a welcome speech said that UzhNU, in particular journalism department, remains a reliable partner for their institute, so she sincerely hopes for further cooperation between the educational institutions.
