Ivan BALOHA: “The new government repeats the mistakes of the old one”

Transcarpathian Regional Council Chairman Ivan Baloha in his comments to the media said that the government make mistakes in appointments of heads of security agencies in the region.

"Appointments in the prosecution are the same mistake as in the case of the appointment of the regional police chief. The revolutionary events in the country had to teach the new government a lesson. During the appointment of law enforcement agencies officials, they had to discuss the matter with the public, to propose at least 5-7 candidates. People who were on high positions during the Yanukovych’s regime and did not state their opinion on his crimes, did not come over to the side of the people, in this difficult time for the country, have no right to hold any positions in law enforcement agencies. Transcarpathian community demanded representatives of our region to be appointed on these positions. As to the former police chief, he was the chief of the district police department till the end of the Yanukovych’s regime.  As for the new prosecutor, who worked in Kyiv region on highest positions under the old regime, the demands of the community were not fulfilled either. As for the first appointments in the prosecutor’s office, we again see strange things – Mr. Bakay, who was overseeing "flows" under the previous regional prosecutor, was appointed to this position again. Then what has changed? Nothing – only nameplates. The new government repeats the mistakes of the previous government", – Ivan Baloha said.
