On the Holy Saturday, thousands of people witnessed the miraculous descent of the Holy Fire in the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, TSN reported.
The sacred fire appeared at the altar during the prayer of the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos, as it happens every year on the eve of the Orthodox Easter. After the descent of the fire, the patriarch gave it to believers who lit 33 candles with it – according to the age of Christ. Pilgrims washed their faces and heads with the Holy Fire. Believers lit lamps from the sacred flame to bring the fire to their homes.
