Instead of a bonus: an employee of the “Ukrposhta” in Uzhgorod was selling company’s computer equipment to a pawnshop

In Uzhgorod, an employee of the "Ukrposhta" sold to a pawnshop the company’s computer equipment at more than UAH 1 million, the press service of the prosecutor’s office in Transcarpathian region reported.

Under the procedural control of the Uzhgorod local prosecutor’s office, a pre-trial investigation was conducted and an indictment against a former employee of the Transcarpathian office of the "Ukrposhta" PJSC charged with squandering more than 1 UAH million of the company’s money has been sent to the court.

During the pre-trial investigation it was found out that the 44-year-old resident of Uzhgorod, from March to November 2018, had sold to the pawnshop of the regional center the company’s computer equipment.

In total, 36 such facts were revealed. The amount of damages reaches more than one million hryvnias.

The actions of the accused are classified under Part 1 and Part 3 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, misappropriation of property committed repeatedly.

The crime is punishable by restraint of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for a term of three to eight years, with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
