Industrial production in Transcarpathia dropped by almost 16%

Industrial production in the region has dropped and is 84.3% compared with the same period last year.

This was reported by the new head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal on his website.

He said that the manufacturing industry has dropped to 81.8%.

"The volume of construction is only 88.4% against the last year. Housing construction, including individual housing, has also decreased dramatically, which is not typical for Transcarpathia – 77.7% compared with the level of 2014" – Moskal says.

In addition, he noted that export also has dropped compared to the last year – to 81%, imports – to 60.2%, and retail trade turnover has decreased to 81.3%.

"Since 2005, not a single major investment project has been implemented in the region! This suggests that owners of large capital are reluctant to enter our market because of high risks," – Moskal said.

He also pointed out the extremely uneven distribution of production in the region: one third of the total volume of industrial products are manufactured in Uzhgorod district, 21.3% – in Uzhgorod, 12.1% – in Mukachevo.

The rest, unfortunately, lag behind: Velyky Berezny district accounts for 1%, Volovets – 0.2%, Mizhhirya and Khust districts – 0.4 and 0.7 percent respectively, Khust and Chop – 0,6 and 0, 4%.
