In Velyky Berezny district, a man found an old grenade and brought it home

On February 18, at 13:00, the bomb squad of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region removed and disposed of a grenade F-1 of the World War II period. It was found in the evening on February 17 in the yard of a private house in the village of Zhornava in Velyky Berezny district.

As it turned out, the grenade had been brought home by a father of several children. The man came across it somewhere in a mountain stream. After he boasted the dangerous item in front of his own kids, he put it near the barn and continued about his business. The neighbor raised the alarm when his children came and told about the grenade. The man immediately called the relevant services.

According to bomb experts, the grenade could have explode any moment, because the fuse was inside and there was no safety-stop.

Rescuers, involving the village head, also explained the residents that ignoring safety rules when detecting suspicious items can lead to unintended consequences.
