In Uzhgorod, they will choose Super Mom and raise money for the children’s hospital

In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was a meeting, the main theme of which was the charity event "Super Mom", organized by the "Zonta Club" of Uzhgorod. As a result of the events held in previous years (2003-2013), they purchased the necessary equipment for Uzhgorod City Children’s Hospital, equipped a children’s playground and more.

The organizers told how the event would take place this year, what one must be able to do and to know in order to become "Super Mom" and many other interesting things.

Miroslava Kalamunyak, the director of the Area 04 (Zonta Club), which includes clubs in Ukraine and Poland, said that the international organization "Zonta" had been established in 1919 in the United States. "In Uzhgorod, the organization was created in 2002, after women of Uzhgorod had visited their American colleagues – Miroslava Kalamunyak said – "Zonta" has representatives at the UN, UNICEF and other prominent organizations and brings together women around the world". She said that the aim of the organization is to raise the status of women in society, to help them in all areas. Therefore members of the organization are engaged in fundraising, organizing various events.

Valentyna Mytrovtsiy, the president of the club "Zonta-Uzhgorod" noted that the local organization takes care of Uzhgorod City Children’s Hospital and each year raises money for its needs. Also, "Zonta-Uzhgorod" helps women with children, especially those whose children have health problems. "On May 17, at 15.00, in the club "Phantom", "Zonta" is organizing a charity event "Super Mom", and the money raised (for tickets) will be spent on the needs of the children’s hospital, including the purchase of equipment for patients with cystic fibrosis" – Valentyna Mytrovtsiy said.

According to Natalia Hlushchenko, the accountant of Uzhgorod City Children’s Hospital, the hospital is in need of a special analizing device, which determines the level of sodium-potassium in pediatric patients.  Such a device today costs 45,000 UAH.

Olena Tara, who has cystic fibrosis, shared her experience of living with such a disease. "I was diagnosed 26 years ago, but I live, and have been a mother for a year. Cystic fibrosis is an incurable genetic disorder, it affects all the organs that have phlegm in their structure (lungs, pancreas, intestine and others).  The treatment of one adult patient costs 40,000 UAH per year" – Olena said.

Miroslava Skubenych, a member of the club "Zonta-Uzhgorod", said that "Super Mom" is not only a competition, but a show. They invite art groups, individual performers. "6 moms will be participating in the competition, they have been preparing for this for two weeks at special classes" – Miroslava Skubenych said. According to her, motherhood is no reason to fall out of active life.

Oksana Tyurina, "Super Mom 2013" shared her experience of participation in the last year’s competition. She said that contests for moms were original and difficult. In particular, they had to make a child’s carnival costume without a needle and thread. "Zonta Club" helped me a lot even after the contest, – Oksana Tyurina said – people, with whom I had been acquainted for several days, supported me this year when I learned about health problems. I am very grateful to them."
