On Monday, October 20, at 12.00, in the Regional Clinical Oncology Center (Uzhgorod, Brodlakovych str., 2), there will be a press conference devoted to the National Breast Cancer Day.
The National Breast Cancer Day was established in Ukraine "… in order to intesify activities to prevent the spread of breast cancer, to draw public attention to the problem…", under the Decree of the President of Ukraine "On the National Breast Cancer Day" of January 17, 2005 № 42/2005.
Doctors call female breast "the target organ", because any hormonal changes in the female body affect primarily the health of this organ. Stress, fatty and caloric foods, breast trauma are especially harmful for breast.
According to statistics, breast cancer ranks first among cancers of the female population in Ukraine and in the world.
Annually, about one million new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed worldwide, 600,000 women die annually from the disease. According to the WHO, 30% of women, who have died of breast cancer, were less than 45 years old.
