In Uzhgorod, there was a training for candidates for foster parents and guardians

On 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 of July 2014, Transcarpathian Regional Centre of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth organized and conducted training for candidates for foster parents and guardians. Candidates from Perechyn, Mizhhirya, Rakhiv districts and the city of Chop participated in the training.

  

During the training, the candidates received the relevant information concerning foster families, foster care homes, guardians and found answers to their questions.

Throughout the period of the training sessions, a psychologist was helping the group to tune into training process, to create the atmosphere of friendliness and openness, as well as watching the dynamics of group process. During the training, the psychologist covered such topics as family functions and features of their implementation; understanding the role of father and mother; parenting practices and their practical application; common mistakes in upbringing; children’s needs and how to meet them; stages of psychological development of a child; features of communication between parents and children; deviant behavior of a child; basic needs of a child; cognitive triangle as a form of understanding the behavior of a child; my child’s team; prevention of emotional burnout in adoptive parents, foster parents; development of the discipline and improvement of behavior; ineffective and effective discipline strategies; guiding recommendations to encourage development in children; teaching children responsibility; objectives and stages of responsibility development, withdrawal of a child from a foster family or foster care home.

The candidates received more information from the specialists of the Department for social protection and services for children of the RSA.

As a result of this training, 3 families and 3 individuals will be included in the electronic database of orphans and children deprived of parental care and families of potential adoptive parents, guardians, foster parents, educators. 3 families – as potential adoptive parents, and 3 persons – as potential guardians.
