In Uzhgorod, the police detained thieves from Georgia (PHOTOS)

The criminals were burgling Uzhgorod residents’ cars using a special scanner and pick-locks.

Recently, thefts from cars in Uzhgorod have become more frequent. Unknown offenders would unlock cars parked on streets, near supermarkets with a special scanner and steal money, documents and other valuables.

The victims one by one began to report to the police. In particular,   unknown thieves stole 700 UAH from a 59-year-old Uzhgorod resident’s "Hyundai" parked of G. Svoboda Street.

Officers of the Criminal Investigation department of Uzhgorod city police began the investigation, and soon the hitherto-elusive thieves were detained.

As it turned out, Uzhgorod residents’ cars had been burgled by three Georgian citizens aged 37-45 years, who in recent years have lived in Ukraine, including Kyiv and Luhansk. They arrived to our city a few days ago from Luhansk.   The thieves used a special scanner that recorded and reproduced electronic alarm code to open car doors. The police confiscated that device from them, as well as pick-locks and other accessories.

The criminal proceeding was initiated over this fact, all three Georgian thieves were detained according to Art.208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine, they are held in Uzhgorod city police detention facility. The decision on pre-trial restraint against them is being taken.

Currently, the detainees were proven to have committed 3 thefts from vehicles, the largest amount is 17,000 UAH. The investigation is continuing, it must establish the true extent of criminal acts committed by the Georgians. Then they will be judged in court.
