Soldiers of the 4th battalion of the 2 Galician brigade of the National Guard always celebrate Christmas with the observance of all the necessary traditions. Since conscript soldiers, who serve in the units a year or 18 months, are used to celebrate it with their families, the command tries to create warm holiday environment for them.
The main things, that the Festive Dinner can’t be without, are kutya and varenyks. The guards set a new record and cooked 777 varenyks: 400 with potatoes and 377 with jam.
The priest of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Uzhgorod, Father Pavlo gladly accepted the invitation of the command to hold the prayer and the Blessing for the Festive Dinner.
After the prayer, the servicemen went to the dining room, where the festive dinner with 12 dishes was prepared for them by chefs.
All of the guards sang together a Christmas carol.
"We are very grateful to the commanders for this festive dinner. Now, in the army, we feel lack of family warmth and comfort, and such holidays help us to feel at home", – soldier Illya Bandurenko from Zaporizhzhia shares his impressions.
