Today, February 12, at 3:07, Uzhgorod firefighters were called to Mynaiska street in the regional center. According to the information received, an apartment on the seventh floor of the nine-storeyed building was burning. It was reported to the operational-rescue service by a vigilant neighbor who, sensing the smell of smoke, immediately dialed "101".
In a few minutes, firefighters of the 14th State Fire and Rescue Unit arrived at the scene. At 4:25, the fire was completely extinguished. In the room, on the burned couch, rescuers found the 81-year-old owner of the appartment. Unfortunately, it was too late to help her. The old woman lived alone and was bedridden for health reasons.
The cause of the fire and damages are under investigation. One of the possible versions is a violation of the rules of heating device operation, because there were two electric heaters next to the bed. The fire damaged the couch.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the case.
