In Transcarpathia, they were solving the problems of logistical support of border guards in the East

The management of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Western Regional
Department of State Border Guard Service were solving problems of logistical support of border
guards in the East.

On Thursday, July 3, there was a working meeting of the first deputy head of the Transcarpathian
Regional State Administration Andriy Serbaylo with the newly appointed chief of the Western
Regional Office of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Igor Andrusik and commanders of Chop
and Mukachevo border guard detachments. Primarily, it dealt with the necessary logistical support
for border guard detachments by local executive authorities and local governments, as well as the
work of Transcarpathian checkpoints and service improvement of border infrastructure.

According to the Major General Igor Andrusik, now the first priority of the State Border Guard Service
is closing the eastern borders and strengthening the personnel. Recently, there have more and more
facts of militants opening fire at border troops and checkpoints on the borders of Ukraine and Russia.
"We often receive complaints from mothers and wives of border guards that allegedly the State
Border Service sends untrained people without the necessary safety means to the "hot spots" in
the east of the country. I assure you, no soldier has been sent without body armor and appropriate
training, – the head of the Western Regional Office said and added: – We buy the required equipment
mainly for patronage and charity funds." He also appealed to the management of the requesting to
provide in the regional budget allocation of additional funding required for guarding the state border
of Ukraine in Transcarpathia.

In turn, Andriy Serbaylo said that the other day, at the session of the Transcarpathian Regional
Council, the deputies approved the program of logistical support of the 4th territorial defense
battalion, soldiers and other participants of the anti-terrorist operation and contributed 6.4
million hryvnia. These funds will be used to provide soldiers with means of personal protection,
communication and clothing, items of property and equipment to maintain combat readiness and
effective execution of tasks.

Also, the first deputy head of the region praised the works of Mukachevo and Chop border
guard detachments, noting that currently there have been no complaints about the work of
Transcarpathian checkpoints neither from our countrymen nor from foreigners.
Note: Currently, the Western Regional Office of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has been
actively involved in strengthening the protection of Ukrainian-Russian border. The military command
ensures regular rotation of the personnel of Chop and Mukachevo detachments who serve on the
eastern border of Ukraine.
