Prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region together with investigators of the SFS in Transcarpathian region and officers of the SSU Office in Transcarpathia found warehouses in Uzhgorod and Khust, from which they seized a considerable amount of finished alcohol, as well as other manufacturing equipment.
As of the evening of February 18, law enforcement officers seized more than 19,000 bottles of vodka, more than 31,000 bottles of brandy and other alcoholic beverages. In addition, they seized 8 boxes of corks and more than 20 rolls of labels and counter-labels for counterfeit products.
According to the information available, the offenders were selling liquor wholesale to retailers and outlets in markets across the region.
Further investigative actions are currently underway to determine the final quantity of the seized goods and their estimated value, and the found alcohol and excise duty stamps will be sent for appropriate examinations.
Legal classification in this proceeding is Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of sale of excisable goods).
Further pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the State Fiscal Service in Transcarpathian region under the procedural control of the prosecutor’s office of the region.
