In Transcarpathia, a resident was illegally keeping the batch of Belarusian cigarettes for 120,000 UAH

In a private home of a citizen, who resides one of the localities in Vynogradiv District, an investigator together with officers of the Main Office of the Ministry of Income found and seized 12,000 packs of cigarettes. The cigarettes were of Belarusian production, with no excise tax stamps, ready for shipment abroad. Their estimated cost is 120,000 UAH.

Currently they are establishing how foreign-made cigarettes got to Transcarpathia and how the offenders planned to use them.

This is the fourth fact of illicit trade of cigarettes produced in the CIS (Russia and Belarus) revealed by the tax police in the region since the beginning of the year.

Since the beginning of 2014, the tax police has seized excise goods in the amount of more than 1.8 million hryvnias, including tobacco products worth 518,000 UAH. Three illegal alcohol shops have been closed. 20 criminal offenses related to illicit trafficking of excisable goods has been registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigation. Eleven people have been notified of being suspected of committing criminal offenses in this category. The criminal proceedings against them have been sent to the judicial authorities.
