In Transcarpathia, 7 applicants “became” students for 40,000 UAH.

Because of the officials’ criminal intent to make money, 7 persons were attending classes during the year believing that they were students – prosecutors initiated criminal proceedings

The prosecutors of Transcarpathian region registered in the URPI the information about the abuse of power by officials of a private educational establishment (Part 1 of Art. 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the Head of Department for the protection of rights and freedoms of children Olesya Bokoch, during the judicial inspection, it was revealed that employees of a private educational establishment, intending to make money, abusing official powers, had reported seven entrants that they had been enrolled as students. And thus, they received from them about 40,000 UAH.

Because of these criminal actions of the employees, the constitutional rights of children to education were grossly violated, as they believed that they were students, attended classes for a year and even took exams.

Currently, the officials face a fine of one hundred and fifty to four hundred untaxed minimum incomes, or arrest for a term up to three months, or restraint of liberty for a term up to two years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to two years and with a special forfeiture.
