In the sky on a wing

Never dreamed of becoming a bird? The truth is that everyone dreams of flying in the sky. No, not on the flying transport such as airplanes or helicopters, but on their own wings. But evolution did not give us that opportunity and then enthusiasts have come up with paragliders for those who strive in the height. You run down the hill picking up speed, and then in an instance take off the ground … and now you are looking into the eyes of flying ancestors of Archaeopteryx. 

One should try to rise into the sky at least to experience those emotions and feelings of childhood when you first climb up the highest tree in your yard and swing in tact with the wind. In this case, you have the opposite feeling – from wild fear to indescribable joy of free floating downward.

From 3 to 11 July in the village Pylypec of Mizhgirya district of Transcarpathia the Carpathian Paraplane Sport Open Cup 2013 was held.   The first competition in these mountains took place in 2002.

This year the athletes were very lucky as the weather was flying for all these days.   
And now I want to share personal passion about paragliding. It was absolutely cool! While standing on the ground, I was sure of myself and even imagined the photos that would be taken in heaven. But as soon as I was put on the tandem system and took on my helmet, I was full of fear and brain refused to function constructively. The inner voice whispered «Don’t panic». In the first flight, which took place at an altitude of 2600 m, I even forgot to take out a tripod from my backpack.

Не слід забувати, що парапланеризм – це дуже екстремальний вид спорту і досить часто з пілотами трапляється лихо. 
Крило параплана створюють підйомну силу взаємодіючи з висхідними потоками теплого повітря, який піднімається з землі, а вперед він рухається під дією сили тяжіння і ваги парапланериста. Якщо не вживати ніяких спроб для того, щоб зберегти висоту польоту, то параплан повільно опуститься на землю. 

Купол параплана виготовляється зі спеціальної повітронепроникної міцної тканини. Він складається з верхньої і нижньої поверхні, які з’єднані перемичками – нервюрами. 

Під час польоту параплан може випадково скластися (повністю або частково). Відбувається це з різних причин, наприклад, від впливу турбулентності, помилки пілота або інших причин. Залежно від того, як параплан виходить з небезпечних режимів і призначається клас безпеки.
