In Mukachevo, they started implementing activities for road safety

As part of National Road Safety Week, in Mukachevo they also initiated several proactive measures to attract the attention of all road users to road safety.

The situation with accident rate is alarming because of the lack of mutual respect between drivers and pedestrians, ignoring traffic rules, and sometimes the lack of a sense of self-preservation, – the deputy head of the traffic police department of Mukachevo city police office Ivan Matiko said.

Thus, on November 11, they started taking preventive measures codenamed "Pedestrian". The main reason for hitting a pedestrian is crossing a roadway in the wrong place, ignoring optical reflectors, driving while intoxicated.

In the city of Mukachevo and Mukachevo district, many traffic accidents occur because of pedestrians.   Therefore, Mukachevo traffic policemen in the first place explained drivers and pedestrians the importance of the observance of traffic rules. Accordingly, there were those who were penalized for their violations.

Of course, cars parked directly at pedestrian crossings affect the safety of pedestrian traffic. Sometimes one has to wait for these drivers for hours. Of course, this is a problem for a small town with lots of cars. But we must not forget about mutual respect between pedestrians and drivers, which everybody talks about but few give effect to.

Preventive measures titled "Drunk driver is a criminal", "Safe speed" and "Pedestrian" will continue until November 17 – Traffic Police Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region reported.
