In Mukachevo Roma are self-organizing

Earlier this week, there was a meeting to discuss the sections of the "Regulations on the self-organization of the Roma population" which will ensure the rights and responsibilities of the territorial Roma community in Mukachevo.

Recall that after the elections of the head of the Roma settlement in Mukachevo, it was decided to establish regulated standards and fundamental principles of self-organization in place of residence of Roma people.
The main objective of the "Regulations on the self-organization of the Roma population" is to ensure the participation of Roma in the management of local affairs through systematic discussion by members of the territorial Roma community. These Regulations shall set out principles of cooperation, partnership with local governments.
The Regulations will be the main instrument for the development and communication of the Roma community with the mayor and the city government, and determine its status, goals, objectives, functions, powers, procedure of formation and activity. Also it will set out the procedure for the appointment of the general meeting, election and termination of the head of the Roma settlement, the council of elders and members of street committees

The final version of the Regulations will be presented to the Mayor and City Council members for further discussion in parliamentary committees and approval at the City Council session.
We hope that such "Regulations on the self-organization of the Roma population" will be supported and adopted in many places densely populated by Roma in Transcarpathian region.
