In Mukachevo, an attacker shot at Christmas tree traders

The police have established the identity of the shooter, now they are searching for him.

Physicians of the the Mukachevo Central District Hospital reported to Mukachevo city police that they had admitted a 30-year-old resident of Lviv region with an eye injury. The man received the injury as a result of the shot, probably from an airgun.

As law enforcement officers, who immediately arrived at the scene, found out, the 31-year-old victim together with a friend, also from Lviv region, were selling Christmas trees on Luchkay street, near the railway station in Mukachevo.

According to witnesses, in the afternoon, around 14.30, a gray car "Skoda Oktavia" approached the sellers. Having pulled over in front of the traders, the driver lowered the window on the driver’s door and fired twice, aiming at the heads of the two men. Then he started the car and drove away. Before that, according to eyewitness testimony, there had been a conflict between the men which they tried to resolve with fists.

As a result of the shot, the affected resident of Lviv region with an eye injury was taken to the emergency room of Mukachevo CDH, another one, who had been shot in the face, refused hospitalization.

Investigators of the city police registered this incident in the Unified register of pre-trial investigation on the grounds of Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "hooliganism". Law enforcement agencies have already established identity of the shooter. Currently, they are establishing his whereabouts, – Natalia Mashiko, Mukachevo City Police Department reported.
