In Khust district, investigators gave Transcarpathians evidence – cars

The prosecutor’s office opened a criminal proceedings against investigators of Khust city police who had illegally given Transcarpathians evidence – cars

On March 12, Khust Interdistrict Prosecutor entered the information into the Unified register of pre-trial investigations and initiated criminal proceedings against investigators of Khust city police under Part 1 of Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or authority by a law enforcement officer.

According to Khust Interdistrict Prosecutor Serhiy Zovdun, it was found out that investigators of Khust city police, in violation of the Criminal Procedure and Criminal Code of Ukraine, had intentionally committed acts that are clearly beyond their authority. Namely, they gave evidence (vehicles) to persons without legal justification and even without any documents certifying their right to ownership, use or disposal of the said cars. 

The sanction of the Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for a punsihment in the orm of restriction of liberty for a term of five years, or imprisonment for a term of two to five years, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
