Important issues: the case of Nahirny, his search and prosecutors control

Given the situation in the region, particularly concerning the appointment of the head of the regional police office, and the increasing interest in the so-called Nahirny case, uzhgorod.in asked the prosecutor’s office in Transcarpathian region to comment on that.

The press office promptly sent a reply.

"Journalists appealed to the prosecutor’s office for comments on Pavlo Nahirny and the investigation of his case…

Pavlo Nahirny, who is suspected of committing a serious crime, is wanted as he evades the pre-trial investigation and trial.

Late last month, the Prosecutor of Transcarpathian region studied the materials of the relevant case and found out that detectives of Khust district were not carrying out any effective search measures to find Nahirny. Neither the head of the Criminal Investigation Sector nor Chief of the City Police provide control over this issue and take measures to intensify the search for the suspect.

Therefore, the regional prosecutor’s office provided detailed instructions for immediate intensification of work in this case. In addition, the prosecution made submissions demanding to eliminate violations and prosecution of officers of the criminal investigation sector and the management of Khust City Police.

Reference.

Pavlo Nahirny is suspected of having committed a criminal offense under Art. 286, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety or transport operation rules by a person driving a vehicle that caused the death of several persons – punishable by imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of to three years)," – the statement reads.
