Illegal cigarettes supply channel was blocked in Transcarpathia

Officers of the Uzhgorod Department of Tax Police found a channel for delivery of tobacco with counterfeit tax stamps to Transcarpathia. Cigarettes were loaded in Odessa and transported to Uzhgorod by courier postal services. In the records the same person – a citizen A. – was indicated as both the sender and the receiver of the goods.
During the inspection of the storage of tobacco products, tax officers seized 25 thousand packs of cigarettes worth over 230 thousand hryvnias. Excise tax stamps on the packs have signs of forgery. A further examination is being conducted.
Such actions under Article 204 (illegal manufacture, possession, sale or transport for sale of excisable goods) and 216 (unlawful use of forged excise tax stamps on tobacco products) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine are punishable by a fine of 17,000 to 34,000 UAH.
