Hungary suggests to open the checkpoint “Záhony-Chop” for residents of Transcarpathia

As we reported, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Hungary had a telephone conversation. Peter Szijjarto informed about some of the results of this conversation on Facebook:

He writes that he talked on the phone with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, and both assured each other of solidarity in the fight against the pandemic.

Both countries are dealing with the challenges the countries are facing due to the epidemic on multiple fronts: constantly strengthening the health care system and helping economies to relaunch.

"I informed my Ukrainian counterpart that, given the situation, we have extended the 50 million euro loan program to support the construction of roads in Transcarpathia for two years," – Szijjarto said.

The Hungarian official also suggested opening the checkpoint "Záhony-Chop", which is currently open only to trucks, for passenger transport, which should make life easier for residents of the Transcarpathian and Hungarian border regions.
