Hungary invests 6 million in UzhNU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Siarto and the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka signed a cooperation agreement between the university and the government of Hungary.

The document provides for the allocation of 3.5 million forints for the Hungarology Centre of UzhNU, another 2.5 million forints – for the reconstruction of university library – the ZIK informs.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Siarto noted that within the scholarship program his country has offered 100 Ukrainian students scholarships for studying in Hungary: "When we think of cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary, we pay special attention to cooperation with Transcarpathia. UzhNU is particularly important because this institution was the intellectual alma mater of Hungarians."

The minister said that there are only 4 hungarology institutions in the world, and one of them is in Uzhgorod. By the way: in UzhNU, there is the Humanities and Natural Sciences Faculty, where they teach in Hungarian language 300 students in 5 specialties. In addition, Hungarian is mother tongue for more than 900 students studying in different faculties. There is the Hungarology Center, very good relations with universities in Hungary have been established, 15 cooperation agreements have been signed. Students from the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences have the opportunity to train for a few semesters in Hungary.

Recall that yesterday, January 23, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Siarto was in Transcarpathia on the official visit.
