Human rights were discussed in Uzhgorod

Recently, in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library, there was the round table entitled "Human Rights Guarantees in accordance with International Standards" organized by the Charity Foundation "Center for Civic Initiatives" (Chairman of the Board Andriy Vyshnyak) on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

The event was attended by representatives of 10 NGOs of the regional, the Regional Representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Transcarpathian region Diana Shvardak, adviser for IDPs Angela Babkina, the Director of Uzhgorod Local Center of Free Secondary Legal Aid Mykhailo Davydenko, the head of the division of legal work and legal education of the Department of registration of legal acts, legal work and legal education of the Main Territorial Department of Justice in Transcarpathian region Lesya Tymchuk.

During the round table, they presented a video that was made at the initiative of the CF "Center for Civic Initiatives" on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Human Rights. The video tells in different languages about the basic rights and freedoms of the people, which are summarized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In the course of the discussion, representatives of the public organizations raised issues concerning the observance of the rights of displaced persons, representatives of national minorities, women and children and discussed ways of their solution.

On December 10, the world community will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 10, 1948.

 The declaration consists of 30 articles, which form the basis of the further international treaties, regional human rights instruments, national constitutions and other laws.
