Yesterday, a round of Fencing World Cup finished in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. Grand Prix series tournaments took place there.
Recall that Uzhgorod athletes Anatoliy Herey and Vlada Kharkova took part in this competition as members of men’s and women’s fencing teams respectively.
According to the National Fencing Federation of Ukraine, Yana Shemyakina achieved the best result among women: in 1/8 final she lost to Italian Rossella Fiamingo (9:15).
Vlada Kharkova ranked 108th.
In the men’s tournament, two of our athletes – Volodymyr Stankevich and Anatoliy Herey reached 1/16 finals. However, they could not go further. Herey lost to Hungarian Imre Geza (15:5), and Stankevich – to Japanese Kazuasu Minobu (12:14).
