At last a long waited solemn ceremony of Holy Light transmission was held, it was delivered from Jerusalem by the representatives of Christian Confessions of Transarpathian region to the heads of the region, districts and cities. The event was initiated and supported by our compatriot, Emergencies Minister, the Head of the Regional Council Viktor Baloga. The Light was transferred to the chapel of regional museum on the territory of Uzhgorod castle.
Holy Light was delivered by a special flight from Jerusalem’s Temple of the Holy Sepulcher to Kiev at nearly 9 p.m. Transcarpathian delegation consisting of the Regional Council Head Ivan Baloga, Deputy Vasyl Petyovka, Uzhgorod and Khust Mayors Viktor Pogorelov and Volodymyr Kashchuk, Khust and Uzhgorod Heads of District Councils Vasyl Hubal and Mykhailo Fedynec, members of Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirka and Myroslav Biletskyy received Holy Light from Archbishop Antoniy, rector of the Kiev Theological Academy in Kiev and brought it on the plane in Transcarpathia.
In Uzhgorod the Head of the Regional Council Ivan Baloga and the Head of Regional State Administration Aleksandr Ledyda passed Holy Light in the lamps to the clergy, representatives of districts and towns who will bear it to every church in Transcarpathia. The most Reverend priests gave blessing to the further travel of Holy Light to the settlements of the region on the joyful celebration of the greatest holiday for all Christians – the Ressurrection of Christ, rich and generous Easter.
