Highways, checkpoints and a bridge: Hungary plans to build new infrastructure facilities in Transcarpathia

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Levente Magyar gave an interview to the "Yevropeiska Pravda", in which he shared his plans for Transcarpathia.

– I want to emphasize: the political statements in connection with the tension in our relations do not harm the cooperation of our countries in other spheres. In some areas, we have an excellent cooperation – for example, when it comes to the formation of infrastructure links between our countries.

It’s more than just road building. Yes, this cooperation mainly concerns infrastructure in the border region, but not only that. And this cooperation will benefit not only the inhabitants of Transcarpathia," – Magyar said.

A few days ago, the head of the largest Hungarian airline Wizzair visited Kyiv, he met with President Poroshenko, the official reminded.

– They agreed on the significant presence of this company in the Ukrainian market. By the way, we are currently discussing the launch of a direct flight from Lviv to Budapest, I spoke about it during the visit.

We also plan to build two motorways leading to Ukraine, and will start the construction soon.

We plan to build two border crossing points in Transcarpathia.   We also plan to build a bridge at the main crossing point Zahony – Chop, – Magyar said.

The diplomat reminded about the plans to launch a direct train from Mukachevo to Budapest, "because now the travel takes 9 hours."

"We need to get closer to each other," – Magyar believes.
