To improve the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces, the formation of a separate mining and assault brigade at the Operational Command "West" has been completed.
This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The brigade commander is the Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Colonel Vasyl Zubanych.
Lieutenant Colonel Vasyl Zubanych, the commander of the 15th separate mountain infantry battalion of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade, was born on 09.02.1983, in Transcarpathian region, Mizhhirya district, the village of Holyatyno.
Lieutenant Colonel Zubanych has been performing combat missions since May 2014.
He personally performed tasks at mobile checkpoints, accompanied convoys and cargos for troops and forces of the anti-terrorist operation. He has repeatedly been under shelling and attacks by illegal armed groups, his decisions allowed to perform tasks and save the lives of soldiers.
By the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 23.03.2015 № 163/2015, he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order "Golden Star" for personal courage and heroism in protecting national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
