This grim picture can now be seen on Ankudinov street in Uzhgorod near the house number 29 (closer to the Radvanka bridge). The fence crumbled not because of old age, but… because of scrap hunters. The residents themselves say that although the fence was made more than a dozen years ago, it would still have served for a long time (the stone is filled with concrete).
And the house number 31 several years ago lost forged gates, which consisted of two sectors. Several years ago, at night, one sector was stolen, and then another one disappeared too. A strange disappearance, for they weighed several dozens kilograms, and this street is quite busy even at night, because it leads to the city center and the railway station. The residents then appealed to the police, but no results.
The current picture is also the work of scrap hunters. They will be "working" until they destroy everything. In this situation, there are two surprising facts: a certain indifference of the residents (how could they not hear somebody "hammering" the fence at night near their homes?). The other one is indifference of scrap metal collection points workers. Is it so hard to call the police when people bring you rare forged gate or stolen manhole covers?. We are residents of this city and it is up to us which city we will live in!
