Border guards of the Chop detachment together with customs officers prevented four cases of illegal transporting of tobacco products to the countries of the European Union.
Bad luck has been chasing the wrongdoers since yesterday morning. At first, a Ukrainian citizen was deprived of their automobile ‘Deo’ because of an attempt to illegally transport to Hungary 100 packs of cigarettes only at the border-crossing point ‘Tysa’. In the evening, another Ukrainian was deprived of their ‘Opel’ at the border-crossing point ‘Uzhhorod’. The border guards discovered 298 packs of cigarettes inside the wheels.
At midnight, it was the turn of the workers of the border-crossing point ‘Tysa’ again. There, the border guards discovered a hundred packs of cigarettes in the tank and the rear bumper of a ‘Volkswagen’, under the first aid kit and the jack-screw. This time, a Hungarian citizen lost their car. In the morning, another unfortunate smuggler decided to check the attention of the border guards at the border-crossing point ‘Malyi Bereznyi’. As a result, 1560 packs of cigarettes were discovered in the ‘Mercedes’ driven by a Hungarian during the inspection.
The overall sum of the of seized property is over 400 thousand UAH.
