On October 21 and 22, the tasting commission of the Ukrvinprom Corporation rated quiet and sparkling wines and strong drinks of Ukraine.
111 samples were competing in 31 categories: in addition to the actual wines (quiet and sparkling), there were several groups of Ukrainian cognacs and brands, wine, honey, fruit spirits.
Traditionally, the tasting takes place "blindly" – the samples are poured into the same bottles and numbered according to the code – so the evaluation results show a high perfomance of industry leaders.
One of the best results was shown by the wine company Chateau Chizay. The highest scores and first places in their respective categories were awarded to 5 releases, most of which are already "stars" of Ukrainian winemaking. Those are white dry wine from the Traminer variety, aged white dry wine Furmint, red semi-dry wine Blaufrankisch (new), vintage dessert wine "Rose of the Carpathians" and sweet red wine "Transcarpathian Cahors".
According to Anatoliy Poloskov, the director of the Chateau Chizay winery, the company considers the rating of the Ukrvinprom commission to be one of the most important professional events in Ukraine.
The Professional Choice Award 2020 will be presented at the VI National Wine Forum in November.
