Finally, quarantine in Uzhgorod! Schools are closed for a week starting from February 19th

Uzhgorod schools are closed for quarantine. This was decided by the mayor’s office.

Uzhgorod city council reported:

On February 19, Uzhgorod schools are closed for one week, this decision was made today at the meeting of the anti-epidemic committee at the Uzhgorod City Council. Although the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVIs) in the city is 31.1% below the epidemic threshold, quarantine measures have been introduced to prevent the spread of infection, to overcome the tendency to a gradual increase in the number of patients, and to reduce the contacts of schoolchildren who are traditionally the most active source of infection spread.

At the meeting, it was noted that attendance at Uzhgorod schools in the last three days tends to decrease – from 18% of absentees on Wednesday, to 23% on Thursday, and 26.6% today. However, only 183 patients of all age groups turned to the doctors with symptoms of acute respiratory infections yesterday. In total, 810 visits to various medical institutions in Uzhgorod were recorded during the last week. The number of all hospitalized people of different ages this week is at the same level as that during the last one. The numbers of sick children of school age this week is 15% less than before. No case of clinically or laboratory confirmed diagnoses of flu has been registered.
